Our March Core Employee Award Winner is the Definition of a Servant Leader

Culture

There are leaders, and then there are servant leaders — those who give their all to others not for their own gain or for a company’s gain, but for their team’s best interest. When Manny Trejo was nominated as our March 2021 Core Employee Award winner by his team, that’s how they described him: a servant leader. Manny is the general manager of EquipmentShare’s Corpus Christi location.

“Manny sets the bar extremely high for our core values — integrity, drive, humility and intelligence,” Zach Stinnett, a member of Manny’s team, says. “He finds ways to serve others, and his favorite saying is, ‘It’s nothing but hustle.’ ”

A perfect example of Manny serving his team is when he left his post at his yard to lend a hand to a customer at their jobsite. He needed to weld teeth on a bucket so the customer could get back to work. In his absence, his shop didn’t miss a beat, signaling that he trained his team to rise to the occasion when plans change. Not only did this instance demonstrate his team’s capabilities, but it also showed just how willing Manny is to drop everything and serve a customer.

“There's nothing too hard for him,” Zach adds. “We're lucky to have him help take our team to the next level.

Manny had multiple team members nominate him for the March Core Employee Award, and our executive team took notice. It’s not every day that a staff shows its love for its boss the way this team did for Manny.

“Manny strives to be his best every day and supports all the employees at his branch,” Clint Foster said in his nomination. We’re proud to have some fantastic leaders on our team at EquipmentShare, but it’s especially meaningful to see so many employees nominate their manager for this special recognition. Manny’s attitude and dedication to the team around him is what makes him an astounding servant leader, and we’re honored to have him represent EquipmentShare and our values.

Congrats on your deserved win, Manny!
